In 2005, I was brave enough to attempt an art show. I submitted an application to the GreenPeace art show in Toronto and my acrylic painting Trinidad School Girl was selected for the show. I was so excited to take part in an actual art show and was thrilled when the painting was purchased.
Since that time, I've had children and with children comes a lack of time for pretty much anything that doesn't involve taking care of them. I'm also a computer programmer so my work life keeps me busy. How can I be a full time programmer and a mother and find time to paint? It isn't easy and I have only recently decided to set out time to paint. It is something that I love. It is something I enjoy creating for myself and for other people.
My painting is mainly with acrylics because I find them the easiest to work with. I love that they dry quickly and I can get messy. I also love that I can paint murals or on mailboxes or anything else someone might want painted.
I have painted large pieces like the 4' x 4' African Safari painting that hangs in our dining room as well as long murals on a bay window ledge. My skills are definitely in painting animals but I have painted people and well known characters.
I hope to start painting a collection of paintings that will be available for sale and to offer my skills to those who would like specific paintings. I can paint wood, canvas or walls. I enjoy working with acrylic paints which are perfect for various surfaces.
